Quora

How this question breaks down

1. 1Q and ACore27 minStore questions and their answers so a question page is one cheap read, even when a question goes viral, while writes stay simple and consistent.
2. 2VotingCore26 minRecord one vote per person per answer, keep the tallies right under bursts, and turn votes into an answer order that is fair to new answers and hard to game.
3. 3SearchCore25 minCatch a duplicate while the asker is still typing, answer search queries by meaning as well as words, and merge duplicates into one canonical question.

Work through the parts in order and you’ve covered the full design. Each part is one topic.
